Event Details

This is a hands-on ’field trip’ to Mitsuwa Japanese Grocery Store in Plano.  I’ve often been asked to take a group to an Asian food market to explain the various  products available and what exactly to buy.  Until recently, the only food markets in the DFW area have been mainly Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean.  Now we have an actual Japanese supermarket and I’m so excited!  It reminds me of the years I lived in Japan and shopped away from the military base.  Many of the items are packaged with Japanese labels and are can be hard to figure out.  This trip will start from my house in Azle (or a meeting spot convenient to you).  I have room for 5 or 6 passengers in my van and I will do all the driving.  We will leave at 9:30 AM, tour the store and shop for ingredients for the recipe you choose out of three classic Japanese recipes I will provide.  If you’ve ever wanted to make authentic Japanese ramen, tempura donburi or udon, or  this is your chance.  Once our shopping is concluded we will have lunch at the authentic Japanese food hall located at the market.  We will return to Fort Worth around 1:30.  Some Dallas friends are joining us at the Mitsuwa store as well.  Space is limited, so sign up soon.
