I don't know why this simple gravy, made without oil or butter, is so good. It's very simple to make and stays smooth and velvety. It can be modified with a variety of seasonings and served with anything from no meat loaf to mashed potatoes.

Recipe Ingredients

First of all, check if you have all the necessary ingredients for this recipe. Pay attention to the quantities!
  • 2 ¼ cups vegetable broth (homemade or store bought--I used Central Market vegetable stock
  • ¼ cup brown rice flour (purchased in bulk section at Central Market)
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning or more, to taste and a dash of garlic powder, onion powder, or any spice you like
  • freshly ground pepper and salt to taste
  • soy sauce, tamari, mustard can also be added, to taste

Recipe Instructions

Next, follow the steps to finalize your dish and finally be able to enjoy it!
  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium size saucepan. Cook over medium high heat, stirring until gravy boils and thickens. Reduce heat and cook another 5 minutes. Add other seasonings as desired. Add more broth, if needed to thin.
